Nursing Care

We support people with complex neurological needs, many of whom require 24-hour care, and we understand that quality nursing is about far more than managing health conditions. It’s about knowing each individual as a person, responding to their needs promptly, and helping them feel safe, respected and valued.

Our experienced team of nurses and carers are here day and night to provide support that’s tailored and thoughtful. We take the time to get to know each resident – not just their condition, but their preferences, routines and what matters most to them. Whether someone is living with an acquired brain injury or a progressive neurological condition, we work together to provide consistent, expert care in a warm and welcoming environment.

Understanding Nursing Care

Nursing care at Gilmerton is focused on maintaining health and wellbeing while also supporting people to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Our nurses manage a wide range of clinical needs, from medication and wound care to the more complex requirements associated with conditions like Parkinson’s Disease, MS, Motor Neurone Disease and epilepsy. Each resident has an individualised care plan that is regularly reviewed and adapted as their needs change.

Beyond physical care, our team also supports residents emotionally and socially, building strong relationships that help reduce anxiety and promote trust. This holistic approach ensures that every aspect of someone’s wellbeing is considered. We also work closely with families, keeping them informed and involved in their loved one’s care while offering reassurance that their relative is in safe hands.
