Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre is a specialist service based in the heart of South Edinburgh, supporting people living with acquired brain injuries and complex neurological conditions. Whether someone is here for rehabilitation, long-term nursing or palliative care, we focus on giving every individual the chance to live with dignity, purpose and comfort in a safe, supportive environment. We are proud to be Scotland’s only Headway Accredited Provider, recognised for our high standards of specialist neurological care.

Gilmerton is a purpose-built care centre designed to support people with complex needs in a comfortable, accessible environment. All of our bedrooms are single occupancy with en-suite facilities, and residents are encouraged to personalise their space with familiar items from home. Shared areas include spacious lounges, a peaceful Coffee Corner, accessible gardens, and our in-house hair salon. We also offer specialist therapy rooms, hydrotherapy sessions, and fully accessible pathways throughout the centre. Every area is designed to feel welcoming, homely and easy to navigate, supporting independence wherever possible.

Our Care

Our care is shaped around each individual’s needs – whether that means slow stream rehabilitation after brain injury, long-term nursing for a neurological condition, or compassionate support at the end of life. We offer a full range of care services, delivered by a multi-disciplinary team including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and visiting specialists. We take a whole-person approach, looking after not just medical needs, but emotional, social and psychological wellbeing too. At Gilmerton, we care with both clinical expertise and heart.

At Gilmerton Neurodisability Care Centre, we provide expert care for adults who need brain injury rehabilitation or live with a range of neurological conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Epilepsy, Stroke, and others. With personalised care plans, access to specialist therapies, and 24-hour support, we focus on promoting comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
